BPI has submitted a ballot to ASTM that would incorporate the biobased testing language found in D6868 into D6400. If this ballot passes, you will be able to certify to D6400 with a biobased test and not be required to conduct biodegradation on your full product or on Topscreen MF 200. We should have the results of the ASTM ballot by the end of June or middle of July and will determine how to move forward with affected BPI certifications based on the outcome of the vote.
While awaiting this resolution, you could either proceed with the other required tests and hold off on biobased and biodegradation testing until you know if they are necessary, or go ahead and proceed with the full test scheme you've been given that is based on the current certification scheme.
We will notify our members of the results of the ballot so they are aware of the implications on testing for their BPI certification.
